Sumter Speedway Embraces SECA Bonus Race

With the South Eastern Crate Association Championship approaching the midpoint of the 2017 season, the 5th SRI Performance Bonus Race presented by heads to Sumter Speedway this Saturday night where the championship contenders will duel for another $2000 payday. The previous Bonus Races at Sumter has been a 50/50 split between invader Timbo Mangum sneaking in for the win in 2015 and Banjo Duke defending the home turf in 2016.

The Duke family facility is set to play host to Round 5 of the 2017 SECA Bonus Race schedule. As a true testament to the depth of competition, the first four events have delivered four different winners (Mangum, Trent Ivey, Michael Brown, Justin Williams)! Current SECA weekly points leader Dillon Brown plans to be in attendance and is looking for his first Bonus Race win. “This would be big for our team and though we have some momentum at the moment. We have not yet sealed the deal at a bonus race", explained Brown. "We were 2nd at Lancaster and we have remained consistent everywhere we have raced. We know the points will be tight at the end of the year and we are only focused on trying to log wins and Top 3 finishes. Those Sumter locals are very tough and this race should definitely be a fun and competitive one.”

In 2017, Sumter Speedway has seen 6 different winners thus far with Hank Taylor being the only driver with multiple Late Model feature wins. In addition, several other competitors are expected to be in attendance including Thomas Robinson who has been one of the region's hottest drivers in the past month.

With $2000 on the line, the 2017 City Chevrolet Weekly Championship taking form, and valuable Bonus Race points up for grabs. Sumter Speedway will definitely take center stage this Saturday night!
