Three Deserving Champions Highlight Historical SECA Season

After seven grinding months of intense competition, the South Eastern Crate Association is pleased to announce its 2016 City Chevrolet Weekly Champions. While the official crowning of these champions will occur at the 2016 SECA Banquet, we pause to congratulate them and respectfully acknowledge the efforts of every SECA competitor that made 2016 exciting, historic, and memorable.

In SECA Late Model competition, Dale Timms withstood a fierce challenge from Trent Ivey and Dillon Brown to score his first SECA title. The Hodges, South Carolina racer is no stranger to SECA Late Model competition but his pursuit of the2016 championship was passionate and relentless. Thanks to the most successful campaign of his late model career, Timms will be crowned SECA Late Model Champion at this year’s banquet. Timms was followed in the standings by Ivey, Brown, Ryan Atkins, and Timbo Mangum.

While 2016 delivered the 2nd season of SECA Crate Sportsman competition, the results were a mirror image of last season as Mitchell Duvall became the first SECA competitor to score back-to-back championships. Riding the success of numerous wins and Top 2 finishes, the Gaffney, South Carolina competitor reigned supreme again and etched his name into the history books. Duvall will join Timms on the championship stage at this year’s banquet. Rounding out the Top 5 in the SECA Crate Sportsman Championship standings are Ricky Greene, Andrew Blackwood, Andy Mattison, and Andy Blackwood.

Making their debut under the association’s banner this season, SECA Crate Modifieds across the Carolinas delivered a feverish battle for the championship in which Greyson Stevens became the youngest champion in South Eastern Crate Association history. While other drivers may have scored more wins than the eventual champion, the Statesville, North Carolina racer persevered thanks to a consistent 2016 campaign filled with Top 5 finishes. Runner-up Steve Dietrich gave Stevens a great battle and was followed in the championship standings by Jesse Rocket, Richard Clew, & Buck Stevens.

Were it not for our marketing partners and member tracks, these championship runs could not have existed. SECA would personally like to thank every single sponsor, track, fan, and contributor for giving our drivers an opportunity to compete and succeed. Details of the 2016 South Eastern Crate Association Championship Banquet are being reviewed and will be released once they are finalized. Until then, join is congratulating these champions, celebrating this season, and acknowledging the unconditional efforts by all of the drivers who competed this year.
