SECA Teams Gear Up
For Battle At Laurens County Speedway
Speedway will play host to the 8th Heintz Performance SECA
Bonus Race presented by JRi Shocks on Saturday July 9th.
So far this season, no driver has been able to pull off
multiple Bonus Race wins. Steve Banal, Ross Bailes, Trent
Ivey, Banjo Duke, Furman Parton, Chris Hargett, and
Frankie Beard have all found their way to victory lane.
Tackling the high banks and tight corners of the historic
South Carolina speedway will not be an easy task this
This will mark the 4th SECA Bonus Race at Laurens since
2013. “Those veterans at Laurens love their home track,
they love the prestige, and they enjoy defending their
home turf. Drivers like Dale Timms, Nick Deitz, Colby
Cannon....they all cut their teeth racing there and I am
sure they could do it with their eyes closed.
However, this season has seen quite a few first time
Laurens County Speedway winners. "No matter what week it
is, you have earned it if you can end up in victory lane
there", declared SECA official Timmy Mcabee.
Under the management of the Nabors family, Laurens County
Speedway continues its tradition in providing diehard race
fans with weekly racing every Saturday night. Laurens is
one of the few tracks in the Carolinas that provides
racing in multiple late model classes each and every week.
“These corners are tight, it is definitely going to be hot
off the track......and I expect that it will be hot on the
track as well. Even though there have been seven different
bonus race winners this season thus far, the local talent
down that way is legit. The guys that we know will be
there have either won at Laurens this year or won a Bonus
Race. I am splitting hairs to guess if the streak
continues on Saturday", Mcabee added.
Laurens hot shoe Dale Timms will lead the charge into
Saturday’s event as he currently sits atop the City
Chevrolet Weekly Championship Standings. Defending
champion Trent Ivey is only 6 points back as $2000 awaits
the driver that tames the 3/8 mile bullring.
