SECA Late Model Teams Gear Up For Battle At Lancaster

Often referred to by many as "The Super Speedway", Lancaster Speedway plays host to the 4th Heintz Performance SECA Bonus Race presented by JRi Shocks this Saturday April 23rd. So far this season, no driver has been able to pull off multiple Bonus Race victories. Steve Banal, Ross Bailes, and Trent Ivey have all found their way to victory lane in the first three events.

Tackling the long straightaways and tight corners of the big 1/2 mile will be a challenging task for all drivers competing this weekend. This will mark the 2nd SECA Bonus Race at Lancaster, the first which came just one year ago in when Union, SC driver and defending SECA Late Model Champion Trent Ivey scored the only Lancaster win of his young career. "Those crafty veterans at Lancaster love the speed, they love the prestige, and they love winning at their home track. Drivers like Timbo Mangum, Brandy Baker, and those Knight boys all cut their teeth racing there. I am sure they could do it with their eyes closed. Hank Taylor also has multiple feature wins and there are no easy victories at Lancaster. You have earned it if you can conquer their home turf and end up in victory lane."

Stated SECA official Timmy Mcabee, "In the midst of itís 62nd year of racing, the Doug McManus owned facility is always ready to go on any given Saturday night. The loyal fans of Lancaster are sure to turn out, as the 2016 season has gotten off to a very promising start. This is the only place that I can ever recall seeing an elevator used to carry coolers to the top of platforms where the fans watch the races from the infield. There is also "The Jungle" where the fans that sit in that section will quickly let you know who they are pulling for. Itís part of the passion and tradition of Lancaster. I hope that tradition lives on forever. We are fortunate to have fans that love these tracks and drivers like this.Ē

Dillon Brown (Gaffney S.C) currently holds the top spot in the City Chevrolet Weekly Championship standings, followed by Hank Taylor, Dale Timms, Trent Ivey, and Thomas Robinson. For more information on Lancaster Speedway, please go to
