SECA Releases 2015 Weekly Championship & Bonus Race Program

As we approach the 2015 season, SECA officials are pleased to announce its new Weekly Championship & Bonus Race Format. The 2015 SECA City Chevrolet Weekly Championship point fund has been increased to $20,000 and will pay out 25 positions. In an effort to balance the payout, the champion will collect $5000 and the 25th position will pay $250.

SECA Bonus Races continue to be popular amongst our teams that enjoy visi...ting a wide variety of SECA sanctioned tracks. Bonus Races are designed to provide higher paying events for our teams but also reward the partnering tracks that choose to host them. In past years, attending Bonus Races were vital to the success of racers competing for the Weekly Championship. Thanks to our partnering tracks and teams, SECA continues to grow. Realizing the SECA is founded on the weekly track and racer, we have redesigned the Bonus Race Format in an effort to provide the proper overall balance for 2015.

Bonus Race Format: Drivers attending bonus races will receive 5 Bonus Points toward their end of the year points total. The maximum bonus races a driver can claim will be 4.

“We want SECA to cater more to a true weekly driver. While we considered completely separating the Bonus Races from the Weekly Championship, there is a fine line in SECA creating a format that is beneficial for tracks hosting Bonus Races and drivers that loyally support their weekly track”, stated SECA's Timmy Mcabee SECA. "This new format retains the value of the Bonus Race program without sacrificing the effort of those drivers who choose not to travel as much as their fellow racers."

Several partnering tracks are currently finalizing their Bonus Race dates for 2015 and that schedule will be released very soon. We can tell you that SECA's first ever trip to The Dirt Track @ Charlotte on May 22nd will indeed be a 2015 Bonus Race! More details are forthcoming and as we look forward to the most exciting season in South Eastern Crate Association history, we simply wanted to say "Thank You & Good Luck in 2015"!
