Ivey's Storybook Season Delivers SECA Weekly Championship

When the 2015 City Chevrolet Weekly Championship kicked off in March, South Eastern Crate Association officials were well aware of the exciting championship battle ahead. Covering 10 different tracks in 3 states, SECA reached its highest list of driver members in association history and it didn't take very long for this year's champion to establish himself as a front runner.

Under the guidance of his father and former dirt late-model racer Petey Ivey, Trent Ivey solidified his own racing résumé in 2015 with a remarkable season that elevated the Union, South Carolina racer's career to new heights. Ivey feverishly battled with Steve Banal throughout the majority of the year but withstood the runner-up's pursuit to claim SECA's City Chevrolet Weekly Championship. After a runner up finishes in the standings in both 2013 and 2014, it is a sweet triumph for the 20 year old Ivey as his dirt late model career continues to blossom.

“To see this young racer elevate his performance this season has been amazing”, stated SECA’s Jason Atkins. “Trent will represent SECA very well as our champion and the future is definitely bright for he and the entire 88 team.”

Highlighted by his SECA leading 18 victories, Carolina Speedway Track Championship, and triumph at The Dirt Track @ Charlotte......Ivey claims this season's weekly championship thanks to his 545 points. Banal (539), who scored 10 SECA victories himself, proved to be the ultimate challenger for Ivey as he held of Timbo Mangum (3rd), John Ruggiero (4th), and Matt Lawson (5th) for the runner-up spot.

In addition to officially crowning Ivey as this year's champion and the presentation of his $5000 championship check, 24 other late model teams will receive their rewards at the season ending banquet. While SECA finalizes the details of the 2015 Championship Banquet, series officials are already outlining laying the groundwork for a exciting 2016 season!
