Tires From Friendship Speedway Fail To Meet Benchmark

Following time trials at SECA (South Eastern Crate Association) sanctioned Friendship Speedway (Elkin, NC) on Saturday August 1st, tire samples were taken from competitors Benji Hicks and Matt Long. The tire samples that were properly collected and secured from both competitors by Friendship Speedway officials were submitted to an independently contracted laboratory for detailed analysis.

The tire samples that were properly collected and secured from competitor SECA Late Model competitor Matt Long sufficiently met the benchmark set forth by the tire manufacturer.

The tire samples that were properly collected and secured from SECA Late Model competitor Benji Hicks did not sufficiently met the benchmark set forth by the tire manufacturer. As a result, Hicks is immediately disqualified from the August 1st event at Friendship Speedway and all drivers initially finishing behind Hicks in the feature event (3rd on back) will be scored up one position from their original finishing spot. As a result of these findings and in accordance with South Eastern Crate Association rules, Hicks faces the following penalties:

1) Disqualification from the August 1st SECA event at Friendship Speedway (No points & No monies)

2) A fine of $1,000 which must be paid before competing in any SECA sanctioned event

3) Hicks will only be allowed to claim 14 races towards the South Eastern Crate Association 2015 City Chevrolet Weekly Championship

4) 50 point deduction to end of year City Chevrolet Weekly Championship standings

We would like to personally thank everyone involved for their professionalism throughout this entire process. All results and points will be adjusted accordingly to reflect the changes in the finishing order of the August 1st SECA sanctioned event at Friendship Speedway.
